At Paul Clark Services (PCS), we’ve spent over 27 years supporting the UK’s bus and coach industry with skilled, reliable engineering services. From PCV maintenance, electrical diagnostics, and high-voltage system support, our mobile engineers are trusted by major operators including Arriva, BYD, Cummins, Eminox, First, Go-Ahead, Metroline, National Express, NHS, Pelican-Yutong, Stagecoach, ZF and Hanover Displays.
But we’re not just about keeping vehicles moving – we’re also committed to training the next generation of engineers.
Apprenticeships That Build Real Skills
Our PCV engineering apprenticeship programme, based at our Royal Wootton Bassett workshop, offers hands-on experience alongside classroom learning at S&B Automotive Academy. Apprentices earn while they learn, with pay increasing based on academic progress and performance in the workshop.
We’re pleased to welcome our next apprentice starting in July 2025 – ready to begin a long-term career in the road transport sector.
Work Experience That Makes a Difference
PCS is proud to work with the Education Business Partnership (EBP), hosting work experience placements for students aged 14–16 from local schools.
Each July, we welcome students into our workshop to:
- Observe our engineering team in action
- Shadow current apprentices
- Take part in basic supervised tasks
- Learn about real-world engineering standards
Every placement follows a full young person’s risk assessment and includes feedback through a formal questionnaire. In recognition of our commitment, we recently received a personal thank you from the CEO of EBP, acknowledging PCS’s role in supporting young people.
Why Work Experience Matters
National research shows that students who take part in work experience are more likely to:
- Build key workplace skills
- Improve communication and problem-solving
- Find employment after education
At PCS, we want every student to experience real tools, real standards, and real teamwork — whether they join our team in the future or simply leave with a better understanding of the industry.
Setting High Standards from Day One
Every apprentice and work experience student is introduced to the same professional standards we expect from our engineers:
- IRTEC Level 2 accredited training
- High-voltage awareness courses
- A clear induction process and supervision
- A focus on safety, quality, and accountability
Training the next generation is part of our long-term commitment to the UK’s road transport industry.
