Our Subcontractor Technicians and Engineers – The Backbone of PCS
Our team of subcontractors plays a crucial role in ensuring that we deliver best quality support to our clients. Here’s what some of our existing team members have to say about their experiences:
George, Subcontractor Engineer (Nearly 4 years):
“In my nearly 4 years as a subcontractor for PCS, one of my standout projects was working at the Alexander Dennis factory, where I performed modifications on the new BYD electric vehicles. This particular assignment allowed me to improve my engineering skills with the training and guidance provided by PCS. One of the great advantages of working through PCS is the flexibility it offers in terms of work-life balance. I can manage my schedule effectively while continuously developing my skills as an engineer. This flexibility has been invaluable in my professional growth and has contributed to a fulfilling subcontracting experience with PCS.”
Jim, Subcontractor Engineer (18 months):
“I’ve been working as a PCS engineer subcontractor for the past 18 months. The job offers local assignments, good rates, and favourable hours. Working on different types of vehicles in various locations has allowed me to learn and grow, and there may be additional courses available for further development. In my experience, the PCS tool, particularly for Ecomat 2, has been a valuable asset for service support. Overall, being a PCS engineer has been rewarding, offering a chance to earn well and continually expand my skills.”
Dean, Subcontractor Engineer (9 years):
“In my 9th year as a PCS subcontractor, I’ve enjoyed working on diverse projects. Among them, the Cummins campaigns stood out as the most enjoyable. Subcontracting has offered me a range of work and numerous growth opportunities. Through various training programs, including Cummins, ZF, and Yutong, I’ve gained valuable skills and qualifications such as IRTEC and Level 3 High Voltage. Overall, subcontracting with PCS has been an invaluable journey for my career development and expertise expansion.”
Andy, Subcontractor Engineer (12 years):
“I joined PCS as an employed engineer in 2011, and in 2016, I made the decision to become a subcontractor. In my 12 years with PCS, it’s challenging to choose a favourite project since we constantly adapt to industry changes and deliver manufacturer-level support for various campaigns. However, one project I took immense pride in was repowering 6 Optare Versa buses from MAN engines to Cummins Engines.
The best part of subcontracting for PCS is the vast knowledge and experience I’ve gained in a relatively short time. By having a flexible approach and being open to learning, endless opportunities present themselves. We often work with emerging technologies like EV and Hydrogen propulsion, providing us with invaluable experience, technical training, and product knowledge.
Throughout my time with PCS, I’ve learned to adapt to the fast-paced nature of our industry. Working as a subcontractor has emphasized the importance of meticulousness, thoroughness, and good housekeeping in my work. Interacting with diverse customers from various positions has honed my communication skills and taught me the significance of delivering clear and concise feedback. The technical skills and knowledge I’ve acquired would not have been possible without PCS, which has always been at the forefront of new technologies, allowing us to evolve along with the industry.”
